In the Eye of the Beholder
How People With Common Eye Conditions See
Despite existing since the 13th century, glasses remain somewhat of a novelty for people who don’t wear them. I’m shortsighted and I wear glasses, but my non-spectacle wearing friends and colleagues always ask to try my glasses on ‘to see how I see’. Usually, I take this as a compliment - my glasses are obviously super stylish and people want to see if they look good in them too. Naturally.
But with corrective lenses, surely I see just as well, or even better, than people who don’t wear glasses. Wouldn’t it be more interesting to see how I see without my glasses? With that in mind, I put this infographic together to show how people with common eye conditions see and hopefully put an end to communal eyewear.
